Hester Mofet's games 2008, 1 of 4.

Before I took some time off from blogging (and chess) I played some games on FICS. Today I started with an attempt to annotate them.

Here's the first of four games I played.

Suggestions on this game, it's annotation or annotating your own games in general are more than welcome.

Hey Hiddenleaf,

As far as the annotation of the game I would say go further in your explorations of the alternate moves. Use an engine or engines to come up with some deeper variations and then analyze those variations on your own so you can really see which one YOU prefer. That is what my coach is having me do.

I would also use some master games to compare situations, especially in the opening stages.

My coach has been on me to go deeper and deeper into my annotations AND I am starting to see some payoffs. It takes longer and but I think it is better to analyze one of our games deeply and really learn from it, then to superficially analyze a bunch of games.

Again take this all with a grain of salt! I am a patzer but I am starting to see some results, especially in my games on chess.com. My coach has pretty adamant though on how to analyze my own and master games.

When I have some free time in the summer we will see how this fares in OTB games. (which I cannot wait for!!)

Have a great week!
