Keep it up.

I'm refining my "pattern recognition" training to games I actually play and those of master games in my repertoire. It's taking some work to build a training database... I will post a blog in a few days on the technicalities of this... but I feel it will provide more bang for the buck for me. Do what works best for you.

I find this game really fun. I just had a try of a few levels for now, yet I am enjoying it. I'll aim in finishing this. Finding your way to the star to succeed from one level to another makes me more eager to finish this game.

Hey Hiddenleaf,

As far as the annotation of the game I would say go further in your explorations of the alternate moves. Use an engine or engines to come up with some deeper variations and then analyze those variations on your own so you can really see which one YOU prefer. That is what my coach is having me do.

I would also use some master games to compare situations,

Up to 80% is only 5% away but i predict a very hard battle to get there if your mind is to busy with thinking of this 80% instead of focusing on finding the solution.

A little warning, although one have confidence this doesn't mean on has to lift oneself over the horse. Confidence is fine, over the hill confidence is bad.

Obviously I can aim all I want but that's never gonna happen, even with a perfect score in the next 500 exercises I can only make it to 78,75%. If I can make the exercises from 2500 - 4000 with an average score of 90%, only then I will be above 80.

So that would be in 12 weeks (1500 devided by 125).

Actually that would be after 1375, so by 3875, that would be 11 weeks.

The time when you do exercises could be important too. For example, for me the best time to make a move in correspondence game (as well as it was before to play online blitz) is after 10-11pm. I can really concentrate at that time, maybe because all daily business is finished. Just check, if one time is better than another for you.

So it's not the amount of material on the board that counts, it's how the pieces are standing on the board that counts.

You are most likely correct.

The fact that you have to "kill" the king and that pieces have limited movement doesn't add to it being like chess.

However, it gives one a challenge with the Knight and you do have to calculate a bit even with keeping the movement of the pieces in mind. And on the board there are also obstacles or squares you can't use.

It looks like a fun and entertaining game related to chess. From a skill-building perspective, my guess is that Troyis is slightly better since squares the knight can't land on occur in chess, but squares the knight can't move through don't occur in chess.
